America helps Russia in making weapons!
CNBC reported that despite extensive sanctions against Russia, US-made microchips are still found in Russian-made weapons.
According to Isna, citing the CNBC news channel, trade data shows that the import of semiconductor technologies to Russia in 2022 was about 2.5 billion dollars, which was an increase of 700 million dollars compared to 2021. These items probably reach Russia through intermediary countries such as China.
Elina Rybakova, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, says: Russia can still import all the Western goods that its military needs. Currently, circumvention of sanctions is happening openly.
Despite Western sanctions against Russia, many of these items, which have dual military and civilian uses, still reach Russia. A study by the Kyiv School of Economics shows that more than 1,000 foreign components — mostly Western semiconductor technology — are used in sensitive Russian military equipment.
Most of these pieces have arrived in Russia from Western countries; Countries that have banned trade with Moscow. However, the complexity of trade routes, the multiple functions of some goods, as well as the extent of the global supply chain have made it difficult to intercept these items and prevent them from entering Russia.
